A slowly building dark space drone.
This sound is a remix of http://www.freesound.org/people/AlienXXX/sounds/149025/ as part of the "continuum" dare.
The process was to cut up parts of the above file, assign each to a slot in a drum machine that was played by a random sequencer. That was then processed with some effects. The result was recorded and then loaded a couple times into a sampler with different pitches. Some different loops were made and then some notes were played and again the results were recorded and manipulated into what you hear now.

Oh, nice!
Makes me think of one of those spaceships that reach as far as the eye can see. Built to travel the galaxy and last many thousands of years. A whole civilization could be crammed into one...
