Speed has always meant freedom to me and the more I have to walk around Manhattan the more I find myself relishing the taxi rides, putting my hand out to feel the subway pass so quickly underneath my palm. my arthritic hands aching for that scalar quantity that energizes my cells to speed once again.

Speed is escape, and I have always wanted escape. Storming down a highway.

Life affirmation is crashing. The sharding, the cacophany, the beauty of an immense and destructive car crash happening around you. The desire to enact speed into violence with out victim save for the vessel itself.

I want to just go faster. Pushed into a teenage g-loc wet dream that I will leave you with.

One long dark night driving a dark grey coloured Lamborghini Reventón on a thick dark highway with Emily Dickinson, dressed in a black leather kimono and exotic cosmetics, reclining in the passenger seat. She is drunk on saki and in love with me, outside of time and only for tonight. Throwing regard to the wind.

The same song plays all through it. Long dead Michael Hutchence proclaiming in Iggy Pop words that we are "the passenger, and we ride and we ride..."

She's arching her head out the window, screaming over the music; one poem, out into the neon bit stream of the city flying past our windows. Over and over again until it becomes a mantra!

wild nights! wild nights!
were I with thee,
wild nights should be
our luxury!

futile the winds
to a heart in port,
done with the compass,
done with the chart!

rowing in eden!
ah! the sea!
might I but moor
to-night in thee!

And when the sun breaks we crash into the median and I wake up.
