This is the sound of a presrved Electric train brake compressor. A familiar sound for anyone who has used electric trains in SE England on the third rail system. These Slam Door units were withdrawn from regular use in 2005. This is the sole survivor used on the Lymington branch. Not for much longer perhaps.Recorded at Bournemouth in 2007 using an ATR55 and Sony Minidisc
