It's very quiet here. Behind me some trees and bushes with a lake 'Haarsteegse wiel' and than a large polder, used as farmland, in front. You can see my gear standing there.
Some common tits (titmouse) singing, a crow, geese and a few other birds I do not know. The hum of far traffic and a tractor riding there.

History about the 'Haarsteegse wiel' area
When a dike breaks, water runs into the polder and creates a 'wiel' (wheel) because of the whirlpool behind the dike. That is what happens 1610. An enormous ice-dam blocked the river Maas and the dike here broke. The power of the running water created the 'Haarsteegse wiel'. It happened again in 1740. The 'wiel' is 19 meter deep and the deepest in Holland.
History of the polder
Before the agricultural crisis in 1875 this land was use for cattle-breeding. Large numbers of pines and poplars were breed. In the 19th century hemp plantations came in. Not for the marijuana, but for industrial use. The made cords and cables and a lot of other things. Caused by the artificial manure corns came in during the 20th century. And now since 1970 it mainly maize.
