The Oud is a pear-shaped stringed instrument commonly used in North Africa and Middle Eastern music. Its main difference from the European lute is its lack of fret and a smaller neck. This recording was done in a music store in the Beyoglu suburb of Istanbul (Turkey). I asked the shopkeeper to play it a bit and he agreed to it, he was able to play a bit most of the Turkish traditional instruments. The recording was done on February 18th 2011 with a Sony PCM-D50.
