Visit to Dunfermline Cemetery to capture the quiet ambience.
However, it turned out to be a busy day for the grounds maintenance crew.
A number of birds and some faint city noises are drowned out by the lawnmowers, strimmers and leaf blowers.
Dunfermline previously relied on the old Abbey’s ancient burial grounds.
However, by the mid-1800s, this cemetery proved a dangerous health hazard due to extreme overcrowding.
The situation was so bad that local papers reported 'pauper coffins' being burned at night to make space.
In 1863 Dunfermline Cemetery was established, to address the overcrowding and sanitary issues.
The old abbey cemetery was finally declared a health threat and closed for burials in 1896.
Dunfermline Cemetery is known for its fine statues, mature beech trees, and numerous benches for (normally) quiet contemplation.

Yes, i believe next time will be on a weekend.
Or in the evening.
Before dark, of course.

Thanks Kevin.
Yeah, i was really disappointed on the day as I'd planned a visit to this cemetery for a very long time.
Throughout being ill for all those weeks i'd used it as a means of managing some really low periods.
Though, it turned out that some of it was indeed salvageable.
I plan on returning at a much quieter time.
Glad you liked it.
Much appreciated.
