Young pigs' slaughter. WARNING: this particular sample is very moving, at least for me. It begins with a cry and slowly fades out as the poor creature dies. Recorded in a country house's open yard near Cabra, S Spain. Sennheiser ME66 + MKH30, Shure FP24 preamp, Edirol R09 recorder. It was very hard for me to record this so I hope it's any use.
EDIT: I feel the need to clarify. This is the traditional way of killing the pig in Spanish (and many other countries) rural environment. It is based on bleeding (severance of the major blood vessels), which is not the norm in industrial slaughter houses nowadays (where stunning is applied previously to reduce suffering). I uploaded this to document a traditional practice - very cruel in my opinion - , for the sake of anthropological interest if you wish. Listeners can extract her/his own ethic/moral implications.

WHAT THE F**K? I was only looking for a sample of a pig grunting and this was the first sample I came across. To read some of the comments made my stomach turn more, there are obviously some people on here who are totally disconnected from reality.

it's the way the pig is being killed what matters here - at least to me. There are various ways to avoid conscious suffering. Oh, but meat doesn't taste good otherwise... I say, bullshit, the choice is killing the cheapest way, IMHO

dohocken is right. If you respect animals, treat them right and then kill them and eat them.
It's neither humane to be blind and to think that dead animal you bought in the supermarket didn't suffer.
I think it could be a hard experience to die like the pig from the clip, but it's much worse to live like many others do in the meat industry.
By the way, I live 70 km from Cabra and like the sample very much.
