Hey, I need a sound effect of a glob of clay hitting the wall and splatting.
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ravwSrkyl-Y

The link is to a private video.
I have some clay I could record, It has dried a lot so will need some time to get it wet enough to splat properly.

It's unlisted now so you should be able to see it.

I like Timbre's sound (but it's a little too sharp) but I'm going to wait to see how Benboncan's sound turns out.

I suspect some sort of artificial composite sound is required:
an authentic recording of a real blob clay hitting a wall is going to be disappointing,
(probably just like a loud slap / thud without any squelchiness).

Possible sources for composite ...

I suspect so too.

The lump has been soaking overnight, will play with it later on.

I was thinking of dropping it from a stepladder on a wet floor.

Any other suggestions?

Maybe drop it into a very shallow pool (a few mm deep) of thick slip, (that’s liquid clay y'know),
that’s going to get very messy though : protect the mic and other valuables from splatter.

OK, had a go

http://www.freesound.org/people/Benboncan/sounds/147541/

very unsatisfactory, it sounds clicky. My gear was unscathed, not the kitchen, I had intended to record outside but it rained for two days and today is dry but windy so kitchen it was.

I have some other ideas that might work better.

Thanks Benboncan! And this website is great, I used to have to make all my sound effects from scratch, and they did not turn out so well...
