Hi, I am in the process of finishing a mobile game and I have some placement sounds taken from this site and others but I think it would be beneficial if I had something tailored.
As this is my first game I haven't got a clue about anything, although it seems fairly simple to get it on Google Play Store. I'm not sure if it will make any money but I am happy to share the profits if it does.
In the game you basically have to get a high score. Its a space shooter with increasing difficulty of enemies and hazards. Visually its very PS1.
I should imagine this has been asked before but, is there anyone from this site, preferably from the UK, who is willing to help me?
I need:
Small explosion x3
Big explosion x3
Laser "Pew" x3
Warp
Wormhole
Score/collection
Bomb
Shiled
Button presses
BG music, preferably a different type for each wave that could be blended.
There are probably other things I may require along the way.
If you are interested please respond to the thread and I'll send you a link to play the game online or the android version if you want it.
Regards.
This program may do a lot of what you need:
it's pretty flexible for all the basic game sounds. It won't do the background music, but it's worth a look. Hope that helps...
I've posted a lot of the kinds of things you are looking for, and I know they are not the only ones on freesound. Try browsing my packs called "Sci-Fi", "Blasts", and "Backgrounds". I'm not sure what "Shiled" means, though. Anyway, whether you find what you need or not, it might serve as a starting point for searching for other things (by similar sound or by tags). A synthetic explosion, for example: http://www.freesound.org/people/zimbot/sounds/120573/. For buttons and switches and such, you might have to consider lots of unusual things, like the snap of celery: http://www.freesound.org/people/zimbot/sounds/89371/ , or other organic sounds like bird chirps, etc.
http://www.bfxr.net/ looks useful.
Dose anyone know of a robot voice generator. I cant say I have looked very hard, just found http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php but it's not robotic enough.
Check this site for other voices:
The first ones are quite natural, but the ones named
cmu-rms-hsmm en_US male hmm
cmu-bdl-hsmm en_US male hmm
sound clearly artificial.
For a stronger robotic sound, any voice (including true human recorded voice) can be roboticized later with a comb filter, a vocoder, or a flanger effect.
I think audacity (a free editing soft) has vocoding capabilities. Just record your voice and put the vocoding filter on it.
Wait just wondering, would the audacity recorder be better than my laptop recorder. And my laptop recorder is simply called sound recorder, lol.

Audacity doesn't, so you have to have 2 mono signals, one of which is the voice, blend them in a stereo track (voice/modulator above, sound/carrier below), and then apply the vocoder filter.

Audacity is surely a very good sound recorder and editor, it's probably better than the default sound recorder because of its flexibility, but be advised that the main factor for the quality of recordings will be the microphone.
Anyway, taking care not to send the microphone into distortion by lowering the recording level appropriately, and using a pop shield to avoid the explosions of "P" and "B" and the wind of "S" and "F" will do good to any microphone; my oldest 2 songs on SoundCloud were recorded with a dirt cheap desktop microphone (think 5$ range) and no one sued me for ear damage
An alternative to pop shields is keeping the microphone to the side of your face or in front of you but at eye level, to keep it out the air flow of mouth and nose.
Oh ok, thanks, this new fact will probably will help me with my voice acting and for other sounds on Freesound, thanks again
Well, you guys have given me some excellent links, thank you.
But I still need music, and underlying beat then some tracks I can be cross faded over the top of them. Something retro, like is from a scrolling shooter. Is there any software that could help me?
pcruzn, I love the Modal Synthscape. It's not what I'm looking for but it reminds me of Syindicate wars.
Thank you for your comment about modal synthscape.
Look my soundcloud also: https://soundcloud.com/pcruzn
There are some songs which you could use (I have the original stems/tracks for most of the songs so I can modify them).
Listen to Improsynth 2 and Improsynth (these songs are 'retro' like). In fact, Improsynth was created using only retro synths. Improsynth 2 sounds like retro, but it was created using most modern synths and soft-synths (mostly from NI).
Regards.
Hi, I like your work on sound cloud, do you or anyone else here want to make me some tracks? I'm not a sound guy, but I think I know what.
My game has 6 different stages. (I may add some more?). Its set in space. You have to fly down a wormhole, dodge asteroids, collect points/power ups and shoot ships.
marktidswell.co.uk/gamebuild.htm
I would like a looping instrumental track approximately 20 seconds long for each stage and a looping drum beat that can be played underneath them all, maybe a minuet long. They all need to sound retro, like there from the Genesis/SNES era.
Worm hole could be a bit Dr.Who.
Asteroids should portray fast movement.
Points/Power up collection should be a little more chilled out.
Enemy types should be fast and savage sounding.

This is the piece of music that in the game now. If anyone knows a way to extract or copy the beat and the instrumental sounds that would be useful.
How long does 3 mins of music take to produce? And who is willing to take a % in sales, that could potentially be pretty low?
Hi i make some music occasionaly (game style sometimes)
merely house or techno orientated.
You may want to mail me back and i'll send you some mp3s
of some music if you like it i can send more or
adjust music whatever.
It is not that good but might be useable,
I make it in Nanostudio (freeware) is an excellent pack
for making house techno or otherwise MIDI general music
has many usefull effects
And you can also use the flanger of nanostudio
for a full nice Robot effect and or the chorus.
if you need help send me some wavs and i'll explain
how to do that.
(i recently lowered smoking to 5 sig. a day and
i now use making music as an distraction for
removing the focus of lowered smoking)
I might also make some sounds
(NOTE:8bit style ; 8bit style is easy to make)
I donot need any money for it, i make
music for fun.
