Hi,
I am building a flash game that involves a large amount of units, that all have the ability to level up or get stronger as they go about their business. However due to the possibly large number of units, and frequency that they may all level up, the sound would hopefully be quick and not too impressive as the "level up" event is nowhere as significant as the function might be in other games many have played.
I was hoping along the lines of something like a jingle of just three notes in quick succession rising. Something similar to an instant messenger alert. It's likely the sound will be happen along with many other louder sounds like guns and explosions, and the event is not really so important that the player needs to know about it when they are busy, however when the event happens during a period of the game when there is little other audio happening, it certain looks out of place that the "level up" event does not have any sort of sound attached.
Once again, I've looked for dings and beeps as well as a number of game sample packs and have yet to really find anything that hits the mark. Hoping that somebody can just point me in the right direction
Thanks for any help
Hello carn1x,
what about this one? -> http://www.seele07.de/musik/level_up01.wav
made it in LMMS under Linux.
If you do not like it, please tell me, what to change, and i'll see, what i can do .
Soundfull Greetings,
.Ingo.
Hi jivatma07 thanks for the quick reply and sample
Unfortunately I feel that this audio sample is a little too long. There could be quite a few of these events firing off which is why I'm hoping to cram the concept of "levelling up" into as small as space of audio as I can. Also the animation accompanying the effect (consisting of one or two colour coded circles that expand rapidly and disappear) would be over much faster than the sample you referred me to.
I like the tempo and the instrument is fine, but could you possibly rework it to cover the same range of notes, but just 3 in succession rather than 5?
I'm in no huge rush of course, so don't go out of your way for me!
Thanks

Good to know, that you like the Sound, that i created for you. Of course, it's not that hard to create a 3 Note jingle out of it.
Well, here it is: http://www.seele07.de/musik/level_up_3note2.wav
If we found the right one, i'll upload it to the freesound database too.

.Ingo.
PS: you may want me to add a small reverb / echo to it?
Thanks, yes this is almost perfect, possibly even exactly perfect, but I can't tell until I have it in game and play with it for a bit.
I'll get back to you on my success, but as for reverb etc, none of the other bleeps or dings in the game have much in the way of reverb or echoes, so I think it's probably best left as it is. Still, time will tell
Thanks a bunch

Having tested jivatma07's latest effort ingame, I'm happy to confirm it's exactly what I was looking for. The timing and tone seems to fit perfectly in the game.
Thanks for the suggestion jobro, but my search in this request is over
I'll keep you informed of the projects progress.
Of course i'll do that. Don't worry ^_^ .
btw. we'll have to wait, until the file is in the database, wich can be in a few days:
Attention: your files will not be visible on the main page until they pass the moderation stage!
So, if it is in the database, i'll post the link here.
Soundfull Greetings,

The Sound passed the Moderation Stage and is in the Database now!
