Constructive criticsm wanted... new to all this..

    Hi all,

Just wanted some constructive criticism! I have just got a copy of fruity loops and am testing it out with a bit of guitar and bass.

Please take a listen, a sample was used from freesound. No drum track as yet and timing needs to be fixed. I'll be posting some guitar and bass snippets to freesound soon!

Please paste the following into your browser address bar: www.wilderthanyou.com/customresources/audio/guitartest.mp3

    ta!

It sounds good but the drums could use a little work but maybe thats just cuz i like dnb. It kinda sounds like it'd be good for the intro for a TV show like the O.C. or some teenage drama show. Good work though.

yeah cant wait to hear it with the drums- i rekon a break beat. sound quality is good and layering is good with nice clarity and definition.
there is def room for vocal of some sorts, even if its not full sing song but some female etheric delayed echoing something??? good work. please post it when youve done more?

how about send me the parts and i'll try and do a little remix??

breakbeat or like a down tempo feel for the drums. Your right about the vocals though Griffin, that would spice it up just right.

    sounds good.

little to happy in my feelings. but i dig the transitions and all. bit to cheesy i guess is the best phrase. pitch it down give it a darker feel maybe or more airy feel and less stringy feel. but maybe that's what youre going for? if so-you've done as fine job.

    Hi All,

Thanks all - you're feedback is much appreciated!

Griffin and Chronos, dnb or breakbeat would sound good i reckon - i have never tried sequencing drums or whotnot on the PC and would welcome any advice, i would be delighted to upload all the parts so you can have a tinker - and i'd love to hear the output. I'll upload all the pieces when i get back from work this evening.

Ideally i'd like to add a vocal line of some sort from somewhere, and of course a good drum line, the finished piece i saw being more of a sound piece than a song (i am a little too amateur to attempt something with more depth at the mo!)

LS, Cheesy it is smile! Airy it's meant to be , but i'd love to darken it up! When i get a little more used to fruity loops, i'll doom it up smile

Thanks again for taking the time to comment. I'll post a link to the samples / score zipped up later today.

i use fl studio. need any help let me know. but to start just take the pitch control on the top of the screen and pitch it down or up just to start with.see how that goes. if not try various plugins. there are some out there that will mangale the sound reallynice.

Hey what version are you guys using? I'm using 3.56 but it still works ok. If you guys are using 6, what new features are there? can you sample your own sounds like with Reason?

yes. i'm using the lastest one. as for sampling yes you can get various pluging and use them with it as well. reason's pretty nice but i don't think its anywhere near as good a fl.

but i like the rack interface that's cool. i used it for a few months but always found myself coming back to flstudio.

you can use samplers as plugins in fl. similar to reason. just add a plugin to the step editor. simple enough.

as for what's different? hmm..i have 3.5 as well and 4.0 and etc etc. they all seem to be pretty much the same but the why certain things are used now is a bit different.

yeah i've been toying around with Reason Express but i cant seem to get anything working but the mixer, drum machine, and a few basic effects. Should i go buy FL6 or would i be waisting my money since i have 3?

play with it for a bit. learn how to use it then go buy it. i wont say go buy it just yet. but i'll be honest and tell you should buy it.

Awesome man, I'll see about adding some drums to it. Could you tell me the exact tempo?
