anyone here know some good techniques for making creepy monsterlike sounds with your voice? I tried it a few times myself but I need more work.
Other things to try slowing down: a burp, warping one of those big recycleable aluminum pans used for catered food service, any kind of horrible-sounding ringy metal or plastic noise whose attack can be controlled and gradual and whose tone will change among harmonics or with a bit of pitch change over time (the classic being a plastic straw through a plastic cup lid, or a bowed piece of metal such as a cymbal, or even a very resonant metal door on creaky hinges, etc.). But for actual "voice", try breathing in when you make whatever noise you make. Just some ideas.
Slowed-down grunts of my own voice are the basis of most of my monster sounds:

I made a few video tutorials for voice effects, some of which can be considered monsterous:

nice voice tutorial I'm actualy pretty good when it comes to robot voices.
