A cheap webmic provides input to an effect chain. Can't be precise as to exactly what was on the effect chain, but seems to have contained a distortion plugin (possibly an amp simulator) and a pitch-changing plugin (most likely a granular pitch changing plugin) and a delay.
Any sound fed to the chain enters the feedback loop and generates a number of mutated copies with different pitch. Sometimes these form sequences of quasi-mellodies, sometimes different pitches interact with each other and "chords" appear.
