Excerpt from 1/4" tape found in a Channel Master "Small Talk" reel-to-reel tape recorder I bought on 09/30/2018. Material is dated to 1972.
The moving parts on this unit, as to be expected, were weak and temperamental, so there's a lot of motor noise to be heard. I still had a much easier time getting audio from this recorder than I did with the Grundig, and comparatively this recorder sounds much better.
This excerpt is from the end of one side; it was probably meant to be funny, but the warped tape speeds and abrupt end give it a more sinister vibe.
