I was astounded to hear the sounds made by our lake during the early freezing period of a 400-acre lake here in northern Michigan. Haunting and sinister; reminded me of the soundscape behind the movies involving submarine warfare! Short edit is about 11 secs and I've included a longer version. Sound was recorded with my iPhone and then processed with Presonus software (lots of EQ off the top, compression, very light expansion). Recorded @ around -14 LUFS. Hope you can find some use for this unique phenomenon.
