Waves splashing on a sandy beach. This sample is unusual in that the swell was strong but there was no wind at all. As a result, moments of relative quietness - during which you can hear sand moving, foam bursting, and very distant waves - emphasize the crushing of waves. This pattern gives (at least to me) the sensation of a big space around. Recorded near Punta del Moral, Huelva (Andalucia, S Spain) using a pair of Primo EM172 capsules (without windscreens, one over my chest, the other on my back), Fel preamp, and PCM M10 recorder.
