These owls were recorded around 8:30 at night in the Shawnee National Forest using my trusty Rode NTG-2 on a mic stand. Even though it was a mild night and the insects and frogs should have been vocalizing, they weren't. It was kind of neat -- a dead-quiet night with nothing but these owls. If you thought that owls only do "hoot-hoot" you'll be surprised. After about a minute into it they really get going.

So crazy good! I lived in a rural area and now am in the midst of a big city! Thanks so much! It is so amazing! I will probably be adding it to my radio children's series for a scene in the Grand Canyon at Coral Island Adventures .org. .thanks again!
