I wanted a drum which was like the huge drums used in "Fanfare For The Common Man" by Aaron Copland (not the rocky ELP version from the seventies). This is a floor tom slowed down with reverb from an AKG BX20e and some compression.

  Good sound. Actually somewhat ominous when played on the repeating loop. :)
