I've been looking all over for some very specific computer game effects. Anybody got anything from.
The R-type series (only playstation)
Master of Orion 2 (PC)
Heres the tough one - Meglomania (Atari) specifically the vocals for 'We're running out of elements' and 'We've Nuked them'
These effects were all quite subtle.
Any helpful pointers
I am not familiar with the first two... the third.. are you talking the rpg for the st? I am quite sure there are ways to replicate the sounds. Or you could emulate; rom and/or rip the samples yourself. There are tons of vocal synthesis tools around... Some cat recently uploaded that atari speech sample pack.. I think mo damage was his name. Just dig around...

The voices on the Meg-lo-mania game are low bandwidth (4-5KHz ?) and low-bit depth recordings, not crude Atari speech synthesis.
Um.. He said ATARI. It was released on various platforms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Lo_Mania But on second thought.. you might be right that it is not synthesis... I never played the game.. and I can't find any atari examples of the vocal clips right off.. all the other platforms tho seem to be samples so I would guess that the atari version is the same.. I just know that the atari had (imho) nifty speech synthesis capabilties.
Meglomania is not only played on the Atari but also the Amiga. Im not sure a friend MIGHT have a copy but once again have to check all the legal fine print. You might find it on Amiga Emulator software as I have seen games such as cannon fodder available for downloading. Just make sure your seriously protected from the copyright lawyers. Worst case scenario I am pretty sure I could find an actor with a similar voice. I cant see a phrase being copyrighted.
